Green-Winged Macaws are the biggest and prettiest of all parrot species. They are native to portions of Central and South America, occurring in tropical forests and other forested habitats.
They can be easily identified by their bright red plumage, green wing feathers and blue coloration. Besides their looks they are renowned to be intelligent, curious, lively and very social. If given regular attention and treated with respect, a Green-Winged Macaw can develop an incredibly strong attachment with their caretaker.
Living With Charlie

A macaw such as Charlie needs a lot more than a cage and a bowl of food. He requires a big, durable enclosure that allows him plenty of space to move about freely, with safe toys and places to climb, chew, and explore. These birds naturally want to be involved in what is happening around them thus it is vital to have daily connection.
Macaws are extremely loud and energetic, so potential owners need to be prepared for their natural calls and lively personalities. With consistency, positive training, and patience, you can create trust and encourage good behavior.
Feeding & Car
A good macaw diet is a well-rounded combination of quality prepared pellets, fresh vegetables, leafy greens, appropriate fruits and well selected nuts and seeds. Always keep fresh, clean water available. Avoid foods such as chocolate, avocado, wine and highly salted or seasoned dishes.
Routine visits to an avian veterinarian are also a vital aspect of responsible ownership.
